The British Shorthair, probably the oldest English breedof cat, traces it's ancestry back to the domestic cat of Rome. This breed was first prized for it's physical strength and hunting ability (rats plague) but very fast became equally recognized and valued for its calm demeanor, endurance and loyalty to man. British Shorthair breed recognized in 1929 year on Governing Counsil of the Cat Fany congress. In the beggining british cats crossed with asian cats, but it wasn't good (lost type). Breeders wanted to add Brits strong and massive and they crossed them with persian cat to that end. Although first cats known as the British Blue, now recognizes the British Shorthair in many different colours and patterns. In 50-th years after tries crossed Brits with Chartreux Cat breeders gave up. The first breeder British Shorthair Cat was Mr Harrison Weier. The British Shorthair were gaining in popularity very fast and now British cats are very popular on the World. First Brits were imported to Poland in 1992 year by Mrs Marzena Mroczkowska - Filipowicz. British cats are easy-going nature and intelligence. A British Shorthair is always in quiet control of them environment, supervising everyone and everything that happens in the family.Brits are very brave, fearless, well-balanced character and distinguished cats. A larger sized cat that prefers to be on the ground, Brits are not known for acrobatics or speed. However, they are steadfast companions to the entire family and definitely look before they leap. Brit's females are very good mother and they haven"t problems with kittensbirth.They delivery 4-5 kittens in litter, avarage. Kittens are big, strong and they grow very fast. Their rise to finishe when thea are 5 years old. British cats live very long and they are very active. The British Shorthair has a short plush coat with a luxurious feel which is very easy to groom. British shoirthair cats beceme very popular breed in Poland and many people want to have nice, blue and fluffy cat in their houses.

Building: weight 4-6 kilos, strong, cobby and muscular body, medium or big size. Broad shoulder and hips, broad and strong chest. Storng, muscular legs, strong neck, short and broad tail. Big, round, massive and broad haed, strong chicks, small chin.Small o medium size ears with a wide basis. Short and wide nose with stopp. Open, round eyes, a wide place. Colours: 150 colours variety; one colour: blue, black, red, cream, chocolate, lila and white; bicolor, tabby (blotched,mackerel and spotted), tortoiseshell, chinchilla, silver shaded, silver tabby, smoked and colourpoint (with dark points). Colour eyes depends on coat colour: orange, golden or copper, white cat - orange eyed, blue or odd-eyed, chinchilla or shaded - green or turkquoise, colourpoint cats - blue eyed. Coat: short, thick, looks lika as teddy bear. British cats are very nice, sociable and calm.
